Who we are

FILMMAKER - DAVID B. SHARP

Writer/Director/Producer David B. Sharp is an Emmy-award winning special visual effects artist, published author and screenwriter with over twenty years in the film business.

As a first-time feature film director, Sharp notes, "Sveener and The Shmiel is a culmination of my years of 'movie-building' experience with miniatures, special effects, puppet-making, practical and visual effects on movies such as Passion of the Christ, Mission Impossible II, Event Horizon, The Arrival, Muppets From Space, Muppet Treasure Island, Muppet Christmas Carol, and more. He adds, "My goal with the Sveener movie is to create a film that provokes the viewer, is generously entertaining, and wildly different than anything you have ever seen before. My neighbor calls it 'lightning in a bottle'. I hope that Sveener and The Shmiel lives up to his grand assessment."

Sharp's screenwriting background dates to the early 1990's and includes the sale of his first screenplay, Co-Pilot. He currently has several screenplays in development and two ready for production (read: investors).

David's passion for movies began when he saw "Planet of the Apes" and was sealed when his parents took him to "2001: A Space Odyssey". Spending his adolescent years alternating between Toluca Lake, California and Mexico City, his interest in moviemaking and miniatures continued to grow. His first job in the film industry was at Coast Special Effects in North Hollywood, CA, sweeping the stage floors. He soon progressed to helping in the animation department and creating special visual effects for commercials, television and film projects. In the 1990's, Sharp established his own special effects company, David B. Sharp Productions, Inc., delivering hundreds of effects shots and sequences for many, many television programs, commercials, and feature films. In his current feature film project, Sveener and The Shmiel (SATS), Sharp delivers a thought-provoking, funny, sometimes startling and often disturbing, cinematic experience. This filmmaker has a voice that has not been heard until now - Sveener and The Shmiel is a new film that delivers a fresh perspective. The 80-minute movie is not yet rated, but it's hovering near an "R" for violence, the "f-word" times two, and butt cheek nudity.
